Spiceal Street, Bullring, Birmingham, B5 4BH
Positioned on Spiceal Street at the heart of the Bullring, Chaophraya is set over two floors with an extensive al fresco terrace and spectacular Thai interior. The decor is opulent yet tranquil, with hallmark characteristics such as Thai Buddha's and water features. The huge fish tank brings a sense of tranquillity to the restaurant, whilst stunning lighting ties the design together. The open kitchens are filled with good luck charms and statues, just as you would find in authentic kitchens in Thailand, and act as a focal point in the restaurant, as you can see every dish being prepared.

For Chef owner Kim, developing a new menu is one of the best parts of owning a restaurant, whether it's experimenting with new flavours, combining authentic Thai ingredients with traditional British ideas to create exciting fusion cuisine, or bringing exotic new cocktails to the city. Chaophraya's à la carte menu and traditional Thai banquet menus showcase this excitement and passion for food.

You might like to start with the traditional tom yum soup, which is rich, creamy and topped with huge prawns. Main-course highlights include fusion cuisine like a salad of scallops and black pudding served with fresh mango, red peppers fresh chilli and palm sugar, as well as traditional dishes like chargrilled sea bass wrapped in banana leaves. Other firm favourites include braised lamb shank with potato in a rich turmeric curry, served with grilled pumpkin, and Weeping Tiger, which comprises sliced sirloin steak with a chilli dip and black pepper sauce.

It's clear that a lot of thought has gone into the wine list too, with unusual wines designed to perfectly complement spicy food. The Adobe Organic Gewürztraminer has hints of lychee, so it's a wonderful pairing for authentic Thai Food.

Whether you're after a quick pit stop lunch whilst out shopping or a more relaxed evening meal, Chaophraya offers a range of menus to suit every occasion. Our unique top floor is also available for private hire, offering a truly unique venue to host your special occasion
