The Dog & Fox Inn
For a prime example of a traditional English inn, look no further than The Dog & Fox. We visited on a Sunday in spring, and were immediately taken with the charming setting overlooking Bath – the sunsets over the city are glorious. We moved through the quaint pub, with its cosy corners and spectacular open fire, to the dining room. The Dog & Fox is a pub that does great food, rather than a restaurant that offers beer, but that doesn’t mean the quality of the food suffers. I started with the baked Camembert while my husband tucked into tempura king prawns, before we moved on to the Sunday roast. Heaps of perfectly cooked trimmings accompanied hearty portions of roast lamb and beef, which were served with jugs of meat-specific gravy; we’re extremely envious of those that call The Dog & Fox their local. This hidden gem won’t stay secret for long – visit soon before you’re fighting for a table.
