The immaculate AA-rosette-awarded George Albert Hotel, which opened in 2010, is in a prime spot overlooking the glorious Dorset countryside. A stylish interior is complemented by conscientious and highly trained staff, who are guaranteed to provide visitors with an agreeable experience whether they are staying for several nights or simply dropping by for dinner.

All of the creative dishes served here feature ingredients from the abundant local larder. I started my evening with an impeccably presented fillet of smoked trout with potato salad, smoked salmon mousse and a honey mustard dressing, continuing with succulent West Country lamb with glazed carrots, greens, potato Dauphinoise and lamb jus. My partner sampled the sauté of beef in a red wine sauce, which was tender, rich and simply delicious. To end in style, we treated ourselves to the passion fruit pannacotta and creme brulée with apple compote.

The hotel also has function rooms which can be adapted to your requirements, as well as 39 spacious bedrooms, making it perfect for small gatherings, celebrations, weddings, business conferences and summer balls. Even the largest groups are provided for, with the George Albert Hotel able to cater for up to 400 guests
