The Mermaid Inn is a traditional red-brick pub found on the outskirts of picturesque Sherborne, surrounded by quaint stones houses and open countryside. Located just off the main road, the pub is conveniently close to the town yet is perched in a tranquil spot on the edge of Quarr Local Nature Reserve.
The friendly atmosphere, unpretentious surroundings and pleasant location make The Mermaid Inn popular with locals. The bar is well stocked with a wide range of well-kept ale and lager, as well as wine, spirits and soft drinks, making it a great spot for a chin-wag with your friends, or for unwinding after a long week at work. Live sports are shown on television, so you can enjoy all the major matches, and the pub also has a pool table and a function room. In the summer, head outside to the tree-lined garden and patio – there is plenty of seating so it’s a popular place for an al fresco pint or cup of tea or coffee, and there’s even a small gazebo for some outdoor shelter. Children and dogs are welcome at The Mermaid Inn, and besides the pub garden, there’s lots to keep kids entertained: head down Blackberry Lane, to the neighbouring adventure playground, or strike out in the opposite direction for a pleasant stroll or bike ride along leafy Quarr Lane.
