The Bird's Nest
Chinese and East Asian
This well-established, family-run restaurant is housed in a three-storey building that dates back to the 19th century. The focus at The Bird’s Nest is simple: good service and good food. They offer both with ease and finesse. For 20 years now, they have been committed to serving high-quality Chinese food, with additional dishes from other Far Eastern cuisines.
The interior is decorated in a contemporary style, with golden feature walls and bamboo designs brightening up the room. A comfy sofa set by a glowing fire in the reception area sets the tone for an evening of relaxation. After leisurely nibbling on some traditional Chinese snacks, guests are led up the spiral staircase into the tranquil dining room. Here diners are encouraged to take their time and make an evening of it, so settle down in one of the leather chairs and get ready to unwind.
The menu is a mix of Cantonese, Szechuan and Malaysian cuisine, made with imported ingredients combined with local produce. The set menus are popular with diners, providing choices from the full menu to suit a range of different tastes. Try Malaysian rendang curry or the sizzling Szechuan king prawns. Vegetarians are amply catered for with dishes using homemade tofu. They do not use MSG or additives in their cooking, and now have more gluten-free options on the menu.
The Bird’s Nest’s team of chefs all have extensive training and prepare each dish daily using the freshest ingredients and a combination of traditional and modern techniques. Individually designed group menus and takeaway options are also available – keep an eye on their Facebook page for the latest offers. With fantastic food, excellent reviews and a great local reputation, you’re bound to enjoy your evening at The Bird’s Nest.
