The Black River Inn
A classic village pub, The Black River Inn has been welcoming guests since the 1820s. Having been acquired by experienced restaurateurs Gill and Alex in 2018, the pub has undergone a thorough renovation and now boasts an inviting interior which tastefully fuses old and new styles. Step inside and warm up by the roaring fire, or take a seat in the beer garden and soak up some vitamin D.
The team at The Black River Inn is happy to accommodate families, and visitors with dogs are welcome in the bar area or outside in the garden. Behind the bar you’ll find all manner of drinks including a beautiful range of cocktails, West Country cider and local ale, which change and rotate regularly.
The extensive menus change monthly to highlight the seasonal produce available and showcase the chef’s culinary talents. The selection of small plates has previously included the likes of goat’s cheese soufflé and succulent pork belly with sour apple. The varied selection of freshly made sandwiches is also perfect for a light midday bite. The evening menu is sure to impress. Expect the likes of black pudding-stuffed ballotine of chicken, delicate salmon tagliatelle, and spicy vegetarian bean burger, for example. You must try the Sunday roast. On offer is a weekly changing choice of perfectly cooked meats and all the trimmings. You could even order a roast board to share.
