Crown & Sceptre

The Crown & Sceptre is 300 years old; for the last 39 of those years it has been run by the Wheeler family. Every nook is filled with interesting original features, and there's a grassy beer garden for the summer months. The bar stocks an excellent selection of real ales and the menu lists home-cooked food made with ingredients from local butchers, greengrocers and fishmongers. The juicy burgers are a favourite, as is the superb Sunday roast featuring topside of beef, half a roast chicken or a nut roast served with seasonal veg. Bar snacks such as homemade pasties are available all day. Close to attractions such as Babbacombe Model Village and Bygones, and with plenty of parking, this pub is a top choice for those visiting Torquay. The live music on Mondays, Tuesdays, Fridays and some Saturdays is a must-see - the pub hosts BBC folk sessions in its function room (which can be hired for weddings and other events)
