The Weary Ploughman Inn
Located near beautiful Brixham, close to Berry Head Nature Reserve and just a short walk from the South West Coast Path, The Weary Ploughman Inn is a wonderful spot for a satisfying meal and a relaxing weekend break.
As well as favourite pub classics, the bar menu offers gourmet homemade pizzas, while the à la carte menu features sophisticated, seasonally changing dishes, all freshly prepared. A great Sunday lunch menu is also available, including a range of late brunch options besides the traditional roast. The ingredients are locally sourced where possible, and many of the drinks are also from Devon, with real ales from Bays, Plymouth Gin, and Luscombe and Frobisher juices. As a spring starter, you might choose seared scallops with black pudding, then seared sea bass fillet with sautéed chorizo as a main, or you could start with potted rabbit and follow it with rack of lamb. An impressive range of sides is available and the chefs are happy to adapt the size of the portion to match your appetite. Make sure you save space for the separate dessert menu, which offers a range, from lighter options like poached rhubarb with ginger panna cotta through to indulgent delights such as chocolate and raspberry tart with Devon clotted cream. A more limited menu is served all day, including some of the best cream teas in the area and the renowned Tipsy Tea with a Twist.
The contemporary bedrooms are peaceful and spacious and breakfast is a joy to wake up to. It’s no wonder that the Weary Ploughman is so highly rated on TripAdvisor.
