9 Fore Street, Torquay, TQ1 4PU
The Silver Goose Café reflects an age of elegant travel. A working model flying boat hangs from the ceiling and Art Deco posters depict travel to exotic destinations. The ceiling fan is an antique aeroplane propeller and a realistic scale model of the Short Calcutta - the first pre-war mail carrier to India - also hangs on display.

Food is what it's all about. The healthy farmhouse breakfast - free-range eggs and local farm bacon - is legendary, and the superb coffee is their own blend, freshly roasted to their exceptional specifications. For two or three evenings a week (strictly bookings only), this little gem becomes a foodie paradise, so consistently well reviewed on TripAdvisor that it has received the prized Certificate of Excellence. Owner Andrew is an award-winning photographer who has befriended top chefs and learnt their secrets. He offers a unique take on classic dishes, in addition to presenting creative new ones. While enjoying the bistro ambience, you can savour flavours from the Périgord, such as lean young goose with truffle, thick Devon steaks, and fresh seafood dishes such as cockles and pancetta, smoked conger eel with free-range scrambled eggs, and regional delicacies such as duck, crab and sea bass. Andrew's photography is on display and prints are available to purchase
