The Hawbridge Inn
The 18th-century Hawbridge Inn boasts a riverside location and is perched prettily alongside the tumbling River Severn. It’s a country pub where customer service, comforting food and good values are the core principles. Owners Sarah and Adrian welcome those with muddy boots, children in tow and dogs on leads – here, it’s all about feeding and watering the community who are just as smitten with this local as the tourists who stumble upon it.
The list of traditional favourites includes options such as homemade fish and chips, the popular Aberdeen Angus burger, sausage and fluffy mash and vegetarian lasagne. Look to the specials board for a smattering of seasonal, regularly changing dishes that put local ingredients to top use.
Come rain or shine, you can rest assured you’ll find plenty to entertain you at this lovely pub – make use of the skittle alley, dartboard and board games if it’s chilly outside, or sprawl out in the secluded beer garden and let the children enjoy the play area when weather permits.
The Hawbridge Inn even has its own campsite with 12 pitches, allowing you to retire to your tent after a slap-up meal and tipple or two. How nostalgic would it be to visit by boat and use the private mooring after a day of adventuring in the countryside? Well, there’s nothing stopping you.
