Pubs and Bars with Restaurants
Mike and Wendy Wakeman are in their sixth year at The Gardeners Arms pub and restaurant. This thatched 16th century independent free house is only a short drive from Bishops Cleeve, Winchcombe, Tewkesbury and Evesham, and is located in the delightful village of Alderton. The Gardeners Arms epitomises everything that is good about country pubs, and business has seen unprecedented growth. This is surely the result of the introduction of seasonalhome-cooked foods, excellent standards and a passion for customer care values. The experienced head chef Kevin Jenkins and his team of chefs share Wendy and Mike's dedication where nothing is too much trouble-they have put together a full food allergy chart for all meals and a separate kid's menu for smaller clients. Their menus cater for all tastes, from the popular set lunch menu and bar meals for casual dining, to traditional English and seasonal dishes. In particular they specialise in fresh fish and steak dishes-their steak and ale pie and fresh beer battered cod are legendary-but also offer home-cooked vegetarian dishes. They also cater for many types of party functions. Mike and Wendy's quest to provide excellent food, ales and service has not gone unnoticed, with many awards for their home-cooked food as well as the Casque Mark Award for their real ales. It is also recommended in the Good Pub and Food Guide.
