The Farmers Arms
Pubs and Bars with Restaurants
Lower Apperley, Gloucester, GL19 4DR
A delightfully unspoilt pub, with all the charms and character of a 15th-Century building, The Farmers Arms welcomes customers with its traditional allure. Venture inside and you'll find candlelit tables, exposed beams and a magnificent open log fire which is perfect to settle in front of to enjoy some delicious traditional fare with your family and friends. The freshness and quality of the produce simply shines through in all the dishes, from the daily changing homemade soup, to opulent king scallops, pan-seared in garlic butter and served on a salad of bacon and black pudding. Only award-winning local meats are used; the herb-crusted rack of lamb, served pink with Dauphinois potatoes and a rosemary and redcurrant jus, is sure to impress. All meals are made to order, and one dish which particularly benefits from the chef's respectful style of cooking is the Seafood Sensation - an amazing platter of delectable delights including sea bass, monkfish, king prawns, scallops and mussels in a garlic and coriander cream. Once you have sampled the deliciousness the menu has to offer, you won't be able to resist a homemade dessert before you leave.
Lower Apperley is in an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, a stone's throw from the Malvern Hills and the Forest of Dean. Tewkesbury Abbey is a mere five miles away and not much further lies the market town of Ledbury. To make the most of the splendid surrounds, you can now stay in the Olde Brew House, a quaint cottage converted from the old brewery into luxury accommodation.
