Chi Restaurant and Bar
Chinese and East Asian
Mr and Mrs Choy's wealth of experience in presenting a consummate menu is evident from the first glance. Chi Restaurant specialises in seafood, their 'catch of the day' being sourced from local fishing boats. Indeed, Stephen Choy informed us of his passion for providing only the freshest and finest local fish from fishmongers of the highest reputation. The presentation of each dish is given the utmost attention. Flowers and little animals are beautifully carved from different fruits - look out for the enchanting swan carved from apples. Thai-style fried black tiger prawns are delicately cooked and the light, subtle flavours are magnificent. Chi's exquisite lemon sole in Thai chilli sauce denotes a balance of ingredients that is truly inspired - piquant, aromatic and enveloping. The Malaysian-style corn-fed chicken skewers are not to be missed, the subtle cocoa butter creamily blending the fragrant satay sauce to perfection.
The organic Cantonese duck in orange and Cointreau sauce is wonderfully tender and aromatic. If you enjoy traditional Chinese cuisine, be sure to savour this fabulous dish. Alternatively, there is fillet of beef in honey and black bean sauce, which will surprise and delight in equal measure. If travelling from a distance or staying in the area, take advantage of the five en-suite rooms; guests staying the night get a 15 per cent discount off the restaurant prices. Chi Restaurant is a rare gem - I urge you to discover it for yourself.
