The Wellington

The Wellington has such a large regular following that it has its own loyalty card, which rewards diners with a free meal to the value of £8.95 after collecting eight stamps - and with such fantastic food on offer, you're sure to collect those stamps in no time. This friendly, family-run pub is the ideal spot for a quiet drink or tasty meal after enjoying a day out in Ipplepen. You can bring your four-legged companion along too, and children are welcome until 10pm (or later if visiting for a private function). Interesting memorabilia adorns the cosy wood-panelled bar, which boasts several different areas - like the Campaigns Room - giving a nod to the pub's namesake and his military career. The menu offers a range of interesting starters - try the Dartmouth Smokehouse duck on fresh salad leaves and plums for a wonderful flavour. The emphasis is on wholesome, traditional fare, such as mains like generous beef and Stilton pie and tasty Mediterranean lasagne. Lovely homemade puddings include lemon citron, sticky toffee pudding and warm chocolate brownie and ice cream. There also are weekly pie evenings, meatfeast nights and an ever-popular Sunday carvery to take advantage of.
