The Twisted Oak
Pubs and Bars with Restaurants
Flanked by the lush hedges of a rural Devonshire road, The Twisted Oak offers all the charm of the countryside: a gorgeous setting complete with beer garden, fine local ales and hearty traditional food. In fact, if you're a steak fan, this eatery really should be on your radar. The Twisted Oak is renowned for its Aberdeen Angus steaks, cooked on a stone, and offers everything from a 16oz T-bone to 8oz sirloin, rump and rib-eye. I, for one, prefer fillet and ordered myself a perfectly cooked portion, which arrived with beef tomato, mushroom, onion rings, salad and a fluffy jacket potato. The meat simply melted in my mouth; the quality was evident. Vegetarians needn't flinch as there are plenty of hearty, veggie-friendly options available and those with a penchant for fish will delight in the salmon, sea bass, beer-battered cod and the mixed seafood special on offer. Leo and Chloe are the friendly owners responsible for The Twisted Oak, and they know how to make their diners feel welcome and leave satisfied. The outside play area is a great place for children to let off steam, making it ideal for families. Pop along on a Thursday for the global table adventure and eat your way around the world for £4.95 per person. Alternatively you and your loved one can make the most of the two-for-£20 special offer and tuck into a stone-cooked steak with chips or a baked potato. Lunch starts at just £3.95 and the two-for-£12 Sunday carvery offer is a local favourite.
