After travelling around India I had returned well and truly seduced by the country, its culture and its cuisine. Back in Blighty, I was keen to rekindle the experience, and so a friend recommended Spice Bazaar. A far cry from some of the curry houses I've been to in this country, Spice Bazaar was stylish, unique and contemporary in design. A restaurant with a personality all of its own, Spice Bazaar was the perfect place to take friends - me wanting to remember the authentic tastes of my travels, and them, curry lovers looking for dishes aplenty to choose from. Like any in India, the menu at Spice Bazaar reads more like a book than a choice of dishes. There are machili (fish), murgh (chicken), gosht (lamb) and sabzie (vegetable) options, Bazaar specials and an extensive tandoor selection. My aloo chat took me back to the hustle and bustle of Delhi, whilst the chicken tikka patia had me back on a Goan beach. Fine cuisine and service were perfectly complemented by Kingfisher beer (although there is a large wine selection too) and I soon forgot my Bovey Tracey location, transported into that intoxicating cocktail of culture. Keeping it truly authentic, Spice Bazaar uses only the finest produce sourced as locally as possible. I'm sold on Spice Bazaar's funky fusion of design innovation and exotic Eastern cuisine, and my love for fine Indian cuisine will keep me returning.
