Oozing class and atmosphere, this Warwickshire establishment has a real hint of the bohemian - almost certainly owing to its original incarnation as a curiosity shop.

Gorgeous furnishings, great service and a diverse bill of fare pave the way for a great evening. Starters include the seriously tempting prosciutto, celeriac and apple remoulade with wild rocket and a sherry and parsley dressing, or you might opt for a main of baked fillet of Scottish salmon with prawn colcannon and a tomato and tarragon vinaigrette. With such enticing choices, it took us a while to make our minds up, but when we settled on the endive, pear, Roquefort and walnut salad and the sardines with tomato confit, we discovered some extraordinarily good flavour combinations.

To follow, I opted for the plump smoked haddock fishcake with spinach, poached egg and beurre blanc. My companion decided on the slow-roasted belly pork, which was cooked to perfection and served with creamed potato, cabbage and smoky bacon vinaigrette. The care and attention to detail in both the taste and presentation of each dish was evidence of some smart thinking behind Rhubarb.

Also open for breakfast, lunch, fantastic tapas (served throughout the day), or just drinks beside the grand oak bar, Rhubarb is a unique venue in which to unwind and enjoy a tasty treat.
