The Farmers Arms
Pubs and Bars with Restaurants
The Farmers Arms is a 15th-century pub that sits pretty as a picture in Combe Florey. On arrival you’ll see colourful hanging baskets, stone walls and the impressive thatched roof. You might even catch a glimpse of a train whishing past on the West Somerset Railway opposite the pub. Inside, you’ll discover friendly service and an abundance of home-cooked food that celebrates local produce. Head chef Lynda Larkin and her team have carefully put together a menu that features classic British dishes.
Starters include the likes of marinated fish skewers with dill, lemon and mint yoghurt as well as a selection of tapas. Regulars rave about the juicy steaks that are cooked in the charcoal-fired Josper oven and served with hand-cut chips, garlic mushrooms, tomatoes and rocket salad. Mains such as breast of guinea fowl with pearl barley risotto and pancetta crisps, and barbecue pulled pork burger topped with Emmental cheese in a brioche bun are favourites. The Sunday lunch has a firm following and comes with all the trimmings. Delectable desserts take the form of zesty lemon tart with raspberry coulis and sticky toffee pudding drizzled with butterscotch sauce.
Behind the bar you’ll find all your drinking needs met thanks to a great selection of artisan cider, craft beer and international lager. There are also live music events and outdoor tables for al fresco dining while enjoying the summer’s blazing sun.
