The Woolpack Inn
Pubs and Bars with Restaurants
Located in the beautiful country setting of Slad (made famous by poet and author Laurie Lee) you will find a traditional country inn called The Woolpack. Whether you choose to stop by for a leisurely pint or instead tuck into a three-course meal, the friendly staff and locals are guaranteed to make you feel at home. Keeping in tune with true British-pub style, The Woolpack offers a range of tipples including lager, cider and real ales (including three from the small but renowned Uley Brewery), alongside a food menu that never fails to impress. Chef James Hook joined the team in summer 2011 and has made a real impact, using fresh, locally sourced products to create everything from scratch - including his now locally famous pies, which are selling as fast as he can make them. Due to this pub's well-deserved popularity, booking is recommended - particularly at the weekend. The Woolpack even won the 'Pub of the Year' 2010 award from the Cotswold and Forest of Dean Tourist Board, and were runners-up in the 'Pub Restaurant' section of the Cotswold Life Food and Drink Awards 2011 - surely alleviating any crumb of doubt you had about how good this pub really is.
