The Hog, voted Best Pub in the South West at the Food & Farming Awards in 2016, draws locals in droves thanks to its sunny food, vibrant decor and friendly atmosphere. The menu features a wealth of Mediterranean dishes that highlight ingredients sourced from within a 15 mile radius, where possible. The kitchen is open-plan, allowing diners the opportunity to see their culinary feast in the making. When we dropped by, we snapped up starters of Manchego with homemade quince jelly and delightful arancini with salad. This was followed by red snapper served with Mediterranean vegetables and pesto, and the fishboard. My homemade dessert of Rocky Road ice cream cake is famous at The Hog, and was an indulgent end to the night. Owners Caroline and Greg Saturley run regular themed nights with live music that can be enjoyed with a pint of local ale in hand, or glass of whisky or gin from the tremendous hand-picked selection.
