Visit this charming country pub, situated in the picturesque village of Holton, and you’ll instantly feel at ease. Pull up a seat at the bar, where a loyal following of locals regale stories, or take your pint to the garden and patio area on a sunny day. The rural characteristics of the 400-year-old pub are in keeping with head chef Sue Bloxham’s sophisticated yet familiar dishes. You’ll be spoilt for choice with menus bursting with varied options, from tapas and children’s dishes to British classics.
Small plates include the hearty club sandwich – three layers of toast filled with chicken, bacon, tomato, leaves and mayonnaise, and heirloom tomato and buffalo mozzarella salad with artisan bread and oils. Big plates to savour include caramelised chilli pork with stir-fried vegetables, and monkfish scampi served with baby leaf salad, homemade tartare sauce and chips. Homemade desserts, such as banoffee pie and treacle tart, complete the bill of fare.
Parties, buffets or sit-down dinners can be held in The Old Stables Restaurant, while the Dining Room is ideal for business meetings and conference events. All of this proves Sue is quickly placing The Old Inn fi rmly back on the culinary map.
