If you’re looking for a relaxed dining experience and quality, locally sourced food, Lanes Brasserie is an excellent choice. Set in idyllic Somerset countryside yet within easy access of nearby main roads, it’s the perfect place to retreat and spoil yourself. Inside, floral table decorations and twinkling tealights provide an elegant touch that’s complemented by professional, attentive staff.
The contemporary menu offers a wide range of choices throughout the day, from light bites like sandwiches served with vegetable crisps and salad, to mouth-watering grilled steaks and other favourites. Vegans, vegetarians and those with food intolerances are well catered for, and there’s also a delightful children’s menu, ensuring that there’s something for everyone. I opted to start with a comforting bowl of Mulligatawny soup, while my partner chose the flavoursome stuffed field mushroom accompanied by smoked haddock rarebit, seasonal leaves and mustard dressing. To follow, the beef Bourguignon served with buttered mash, kale, and carrots was every bit as sumptuous as I’d hoped it would be, and my partner was equally impressed with his Malaysian aubergine and spinach curry. We couldn’t resist the tempting dessert menu, and treated ourselves to rich bread and butter pudding and a decadent banoffee sundae served with fresh strawberries, raspberries, cherries and caramelised banana. The bar stocks an extensive range of beverages, proudly presenting 18 local Somerset ciders with two on draught, including Perry’s Barn Owl. Wonderful food, exquisite presentation and a serene ambience ensure a visit to Lanes is a memorable experience.
