Amongst the hills, churches and rural beauty of the small village of West Chinnock sits this interesting and quirky pub - an inn that encourages a sense of humour but takes food, real ales and whisky very seriously. The pub occupies a building that was built around 1650; it was originally intended as weavers' cottages, then licensed as a ciderhouse in the early 1890s, and has taken on a number of names and forms since.

Inside sits a bar that has been serving Cask-Marque-quality-assured ales for ten years. More importantly, all their beers are local, with a large number of SIBA members making an appearance. Not just a drinking pub, The Muddled Man serves up some of the best rustic food in the area, prepared using locally farmed produce. Premier British beef makes up the burgers and steaks, while Friday's ale-battered cod is sourced from Bridport's West Bay. A simple starter, such as the smooth farmhouse paté and toast, is a great way to begin your meal before moving on to a homemade classic like chicken and mushroom pie.

This unique village pub near Crewkerne endeavours to bring you the best that Somerset has to offer, along with a friendly and personable welcome, two en-suite twin bedrooms for bed and breakfast, and a friendly dog who loves to be the centre of attention.
