Crown and Victoria
Nestled in the beautiful village of Tintinhull, the Crown and Victoria is a celebration of traditional village life. This much-loved free house has been run by current owners Isabel and Mark since 2006. The interior is bursting with rustic charm and features farmhouse tables, stone walls and a large traditional fireplace. There are also five attractive guest bedrooms with a four-star AA rating. For guests seeking a quick drink, the well-stocked bar offers great local ale, cider and an impressive choice of spirits. It’s also worth sampling the ever-changing seasonal menu, which presents popular traditional dishes with imaginative flair and has maintained a well-deserved AA rosette since 2008.
The pub rears its own pigs, turkeys and quail, and the chef sources seasonal game, fresh meat and vegetables from the local area. The kitchen team also forages ingredients from the surrounding countryside and owner Mark catches a regular supply of fresh local fish. This produce is smoked, cured, pickled and dried in-house resulting in a great variety of tempting flavours. In warmer weather guests can also dine in the large suntrap beer garden, which is pleasantly encircled by trees and shrubs. For those planning weddings and other special occasions there’s a light and charming conservatory, and a lawn large enough to hold a marquee.
