Sparkford Inn is a large, traditional pub serving hearty meals with a sophisticated flourish. With several seating areas, this charming establishment can just as easily cater for those stopping by for a quick pint of ale as those seeking an intimate dining experience. My wife and I enjoyed a relaxed starter of artisanal breads with olive oil and balsamic vinegar. Our attentive host, Darrell explained that he sources ingredients locally wherever possible, which was evidenced in my wife’s main course of local sausages made exclusively for the Sparkford Inn, served with creamy mash and root vegetable crisps. I plumped for the heavenly steak and ale pie, served with chips and seasonal vegetables. For dessert, we shared a strawberry cheesecake, which proved to boast a perfectly executed blend of textures and flavours. With 11 well-appointed guest bedrooms, Sparkford provides a great base for those exploring the surrounding area.
