The Bishops Table

Set in the tranquil gardens of The Bishop's Palace, The Bishop's Table is a recently opened restaurant that is memorable for all the right reasons. Head chef Jamie has devised a scrumptious menu which features locally sourced, deliciously fresh ingredients.

I started with Wells rarebit while my wife chose the distinctive sweet potato and coconut soup followed by wild mushroom, spinach and Somerset Brie tartlet. I, on the other hand, was bound to pick the chicken, ham and leek pie - my favourite. Our meal was spectacularly concluded with wonderfully sharp berry frangipane with creamy custard, and thinly sliced apple tart with whipped cream. At liberty to choose from a very good selection of wines and beverages, we were all the merrier, and very pleased with the service we received, which was impeccable.

Essentially a day-time venue, The Bishop's Table offers snacks throughout the day, as well as a children's menu - although keep eyes peeled for themed events coming soon. It's sure to become a firm favourite with visitors and locals alike, with such superb, competitively priced food. If the sun prevails, make sure you take advantage of the large terrace which overlooks the beautiful palace gardens - it's wonderful for a leisurely stroll. We had a marvellous experience at this lovely location; I give it five stars without hesitation.
