Riverside, Burrowbridge, Bridgwater, TA7 0RB
The King Alfred is a traditional pub situated in the heart of the Somerset Levels in Burrow Bridge, conveniently located for both Bridgwater and Taunton. The inn already enjoys a reputation for great traditional food that is reasonably priced; their hand-cut chips have become legendary. Much of the pork and lamb comes from home-bred animals, whilst beef and rose veal comes from within a five-mile radius. The King Alfred is a freehouse, so has the freedom to support local breweries such as Butcombe and Otter, and there are always three ciders on draught too. To acknowledge their commitment to real ale, they were recently, deservedly, awarded CAMRA's 'Pub of the Season'. There is much to discover at this little gem of a pub - including monthly pub quizzes and live music every Sunday
