The Crossways Inn is situated in the picturesque village of West Huntspill, within easy reach of the M5. It oozes charm and old-fashioned hospitality, and stocks a good range of well-kept local ales which you can drink in the traditional bar area or, if you're lucky enough to visit on a warm sunny day, in the beer garden which boasts a large children's play area.

The Crossways offers an extensive pub menu, including a wonderful children's menu with favourites such as shepherd's pie and the appetisingly named 'wigwam sausages'. My partner and I shared the popular Crossways mushrooms for starters. The mushrooms were draped in a creamy sauce with tantalising strips of bacon, served with a fresh leafy salad and hunks of bread - a simply delicious start to the evening. For mains I tried the daily special, a trio of minted lamb chops served with creamy mashed potato and a selection of seasonal vegetables, which was a veritable delight. My partner plumped for local rib-eye steak with gigantic onion rings and chunky chips, accompanied by a mouth-watering pepper sauce. I was tempted by the wonderful range of ice creams for dessert, and the white chocolate and cherry flavours rounded off the meal perfectly. For great local comfort food, the Crossways is a must.
