The Olive Mill
British

Bath Road, Chilton Polden, Nr. Bridgwater, TA7 9AH

The A39 runs across the Polden Hills, between Street and Bridgwater, and situated just off the main road lies The Olive Mill, commanding wonderful views across the Peat Moors. From the outside, it may appear to be a typical inn, but inside you'll find a piece of the Mediterranean set in the landscape of rural Somerset. The Olive Mill has been transformed into a contemporary taverna, and now has a four-star rating as a restaurant with rooms from both the AA and the English Tourism Council. The Olive Mill serves a fantastic lunchtime menu, and in the evening offers a selection of Greek dishes and fresh pizza from a traditional clay oven.
There are starters to suit all tastes; try the fantastic mezzo gambero - pan-fried shrimps served with orange sauce, mixed green salad and shredded mango. And for your main course, sample the agniello alla brace - escalope of lamb marinated in olive oil, garlic and fresh herbs, served with potato gnocchi, asparagus, mange tout and herb butter. Alternatively, if the choice proves too difficult to make, why not share a Greek mezze, which will give you a selection of small cold dishes such as bulgar salad and taramasalata, and hot starter-sized plates of keftedes, lounza and dolmades followed by chicken and lamb kebabs served with rice. With its relaxed ambience, The Olive Mill captures a little Mediterranean magic in the heart of the West Country.
