As the name suggests, this pub is perched beside Bayley’s Brook and has been run by the Bryant family since 2013. The wonderful front-of-house staff ensure that guests’ experiences are memorable, caring about each and every customer. This is reflected in the accommodating, friendly service provided, and in the food, which is served with care.
The kitchen team works their magic to bring diners everything from baguettes and hot lunches to seasonal three-course dinners, all of which incorporate as much local produce as possible. A blackboard lists ever-changing seasonal specials, and the dinner menu is also altered with the seasons. It features freshly made stone-baked pizzas, locally reared steak cooked to perfection on a hot rock, and fresh fish.
The Babbling Brook’s award-winning Sunday carvery is hard to beat – you’ll find a great variety of vegetables, tender meat and homemade gravy; no wonder booking in advance is highly recommended. Make sure you end proceedings with a sublime homemade pudding or the West Country cheeseboard. The team is happy to cater for vegetarians and those with food intolerances; just let them know.
Little ones aren’t forgotten, with a dedicated children’s menu and colouring books available on request. Make your visit last a little longer and book one of the four en-suite rooms available.
