The Old Pump House

Lopwell Dam , Plymouth, PL6 7BZ

The Old Pump House sits on the outskirts of Plymouth in lovely countryside at the historic Lopwell Dam. Take the time to sit back and relax and watch the wildlife while indulging in a sumptuous afternoon cream (which utilises local Plymouth tea and Devon coffee) or a wedge of freshly made cake.

Light lunches are plentiful and well presented at The Old Pump House. I opted for the Black and Blue Burger, which saw mushrooms and creamy melted Stilton smothered over a juicy burger and served on a delicious bun. My guest had one of the many choices of panini; its tuna and cheese fi lling bursting at the seams. Failing to resist the spread of mouth-watering delights, we both were eager to sample The Old Pump House’s delicious cakes. Indulgent in appearance, while light and fluffy to taste, both the lemon and coffee options were sublime.

After lunch, we took the time to meander around an interesting exhibition detailing the local area and its natural inhabitants. Located on the same historic site, it is great fun for children and we thoroughly enjoyed discovering more about the region. We had a lovely afternoon in the sunshine, and as we sat watching the spectacular view of the dam while watching the local wildlife, we promised to return.
