Making the most of the superb yield of the nearby Devonshire coast, independent Morgan's produces a menu inspired by the fresh, exceedingly tasty cuisine of Italy and the Med. Dishes are simple, without compromise when it comes to quality ingredients, and served in an atmosphere of relaxed conviviality.

Head chef Christian brings a wealth of experience working in AA-rosette-awarded restaurants to the open kitchen at Morgan's. Here he toils with the freshest fish and shellfish from the Looe day boats to create a menu that pleases the discerning clientele of this centrally located Plymouth eatery.

Manager Paul Jones insists on relaxed and unobtrusive service from his dedicated team, meaning that your starter of local crab and lemongrass risotto balls will be delivered with minimum fuss and a genuine smile. Pizzas too comprise local produce, such as pork from Cornwall, so that your ham hock, pulled pork, mushroom and mozzarella pizza will be packed with flavour and utterly moreish. Chicken and chorizo penne arrabiatta with chilli, garlic and parsley is a fresh pasta dish with plenty of kick, while the grilled fillets of sea bass, tender stem, asparagus and tapenade crushed potatoes fills the mouth with memories of holidays past. Sunday lunch - lemon and rosemary roast chicken with sage and pork stuffing with roast gravy, for example - is a must, and there's a children's menu too. The set lunch menu will set you back just £12.95 for three courses, and if dining pre-theatre three courses are £15.95. So, if you like your scallops served straight from the sea, your cocktail expertly mixed, your chef passionate and your environment laid-back, Morgan's is the place for you
