Plymouth's own mini Chinatown can be found within a huge building on Southside Street. The Hans Group has commandeered three floors in order to offer diners a different Oriental dining experience on each level.

For a fine dining experience head to Hakka. Here, crisp white tablecloths, freshly cut flowers and elegant furnishings create an atmosphere perfect for a special occasion meal. The acclaimed chef from Hong Kong creates the full spectrum of Cantonese dining options for you to enjoy. There's dim sum that's obviously homemade, delicate and delicious; and a host of other authentic delicacies for both the connoisseur and the uninitiated. Exciting options include crispy fried cuttlefish cakes and seaweed soup. Duck in ginger and spring onions can be beautifully paired with a nice glass of Chablis, but there is a selection of beer available, including Tsing Tao. Desserts uphold the authenticity of the dining experience, presenting the unusual and intriguing steamed egg custard bun and deep-fried toffee banana. Hakka is a popular venue for parties and events, thanks to the extremely professional service and the exceptional food.

For a more informal meal and a taste of what Japan has to offer, head to Goto. Proving that there's much more to sushi and sashimi than raw fish, Goto also serves a selection of hot Japanese dishes. The health benefits of the high protein Japanese diet are widely accepted, meaning you can tuck into nigiri of sea eel (unagi) or tuna (maguro), or a vegetable option like shitake mushroom, pretty much guilt free. The black tiger king prawn tempura roll is one of my personal favourites, but I also have a penchant for the salmon and avocado hand roll.

Noodle Lounge is the third and fi nal string to Hans Group's bow. Perfect for a quick lunch on the go or a bite to eat before heading to the theatre, just a ten-minute walk away, it is all about simple food that's reasonably priced and tasty. Fresh ingredients and homemade sauces make up the satisfying noodle options. Choose from soup or fried noodles - vermicelli, ho fun and udon - to be teamed with the likes of king prawns and seasonal vegetables, or shredded pork. Everything is lip-smackingly tasty and wonderfully messy to eat, so the experience is fun, as well and filling and friendly.

Beyond the discreet façade, a dining experience that suits any and every occasion - whether you fancy sushi, noodles or an à la carte experience - is waiting to be discovered
