Get your fiesta underway and sign up to the colourful spiciness of a night at Plymouth's Arribas. Straight from Mexico, with all the fiery flavours and subtle spicing that implies, comes a delicious menu of classic Central American dishes.

Latin music and the bustle of hungry patrons signalled the start of our night at Arribas. You can head upstairs for private parties or drinks in the Havana Bar; or, like us, soak up the convivial vibe of the main dining room, where sombreros, warm lighting and bright paintings of the Mexican landscape leave you in no doubt as to what's set to come from the kitchen.

Beef nachos to share and an ample serving of Arribas house ribs got our dining adventure underway. Moving on and you'll find classic Mexican burritos, chimichangas, fajitas and enchiladas, as well as burgers, wraps, steaks, pizzas and salads on the menu. We got excited by the specials range, plumping for Chicken Hombre - succulent chicken stuffed with sautéed mushrooms and spinach - and Banditos Lamb Shank, with garlic, herbs and a touch of Guinness, slowly cooked in its own juices. Both were every bit as good as they sound. The two-course early evening menu is available Sunday to Thursday from 5pm until 7pm at just £14.50; and do keep an eye on the website, where other appetising offers that will please the wallet as much as the palate can be discovered. To accompany your meal there's Sangria and other sensational cocktails, paving the way for slamming a few tequilas. We had a great night from start to finish.

Hasta la wego Arribas - I'll be back.
