One of St Ives' most magical spots, Hobblers is almost concealed down a quaint cobbled alleyway, yet still manages to lay claim to a prime position in this stunning harbourside town. Fusing fantastic food, stellar service and gorgeous oceanic views, the restaurant's romantic surroundings create a wonderfully intimate ambience. The attentiveness of the hosts' hospitality is only paralleled by the mouth-watering menu. Hobblers specialises in seafood but presents a range of à la carte dining options and daily specials, from shellfish to sole and moules marinières to steaks and fresh poultry, accompanied by tasty staples such as homemade soup and garlic bread. Using fresh, locally caught seafood ensures inimitable flavour and quality - as exemplified by my delicious sea bass with ginger and spring onions with boulangère potatoes, vegetables of the day and cauliflower cheese. Sup on a glass of vino from their New World or European wine lists or perhaps indulge in their signature (and strong) Pusser's rum cocktail. From monkfish to mackerel and cod Mornay to coquilles St Jacques (fresh Newlyn scallops in white wine and mushroom sauce), all tastes are tantalisingly catered for. Finish in style with coffee from their extensive range, or choose between profiteroles, sticky toffee pudding or Bramley apple pie with Cornish clotted cream. Dreamy.
