Taking pride of place in the charming seaside town of Weston-super-Mare, Papa’s enjoys an unbeatable reputation in the Bristol and North Somerset area. Owner Adam Papa took the reins of this multi-award-winning restaurant 26 years ago and strives to provide high-quality, traditional fish dishes to locals and tourists alike. The first thing we noticed on arrival was how immaculately clean the tastefully decorated dining room was. Specials boards adorned the walls detailing the latest catch and drawing attention to the wine selection, and the waiting staff were abundant. The kitchen area is partially in view, so we were able to watch the efficient operation of the team in action. The restaurant’s varied menu caters for all tastes with fish-based dishes complemented by a range of burgers and steaks. We opted for the Anglesey chargrilled sea bass and an extra large cod, both of which truly lived up to the hype. For dessert we ordered ice cream from the board, although a separate full dessert menu was also available. Papa’s boasts special offers for children and senior citizens, as well as special deals at certain times of the day. The fish and chips are exceptional, so whether you take a seat or grab a takeaway, you’ll enjoy freshly made, delicious, value-for-money meals – it’s easy to see why they’ve gained so many mentions in the likes of The Telegraph and The Guardian and have been voted the best independent fish restaurant in the South West by independent reviewers and Daily Mirror readers. For 2019, Papa’s has retained a Tripadvisor Certifi cate of Excellence and a five-star hygiene rating.
