Nestling in the heart of the Ashton Court Estate and its 850 acres of rolling country park, Stables Bistro is situated in the old stable yard of Ashton Court Mansion. With an award-winning chef and a menu that showcases some of the region's finest local produce, the bistro is a perfect spot for lunch or afternoon tea. The farm shop, also in the old stables, seeks to source produce locally - fresh organic vegetables are bought from the market twice a week and sold in the shop alongside nuts, seeds, beans, eggs, organic chocolate and ice cream, as well as Black Rat cider and Strawberry Hill wines. All these products are available in the bistro, incorporated into its seasonal menu along with meat from nearby farms and the estate's own organic venison. Expect to find delicious treats like duck liver parfait with pear chutney and toasted brioche, venison with parsnip purée, pancetta and sloe gin, and a very sticky toffee and date pudding with ginger sauce. During the week the menu changes to keep regular diners on their toes and reflect the changing of the seasons. On Sundays Stables Bistro serves up what are widely regarded as some of the best roasts in Bristol, with crispy roast potatoes, fresh vegetables and lashings of delicious gravy - definitely worth venturing out of the city centre for, and just perfect following a leisurely stroll in the grounds of the mansion. Stables Bistro's unparalleled setting and mouth-watering menu make it one of the loveliest places to dine in Bristol. After just one visit you'll soon be planning your next.
