Meadows Tea Rooms & Restaurant
Cafe and Farm Shop
Situated on the same site as Puxton Park, and the Puxton farm shop and butcher, many of Meadows Tea Rooms & Restaurant’s ingredients are sourced on-site. The team is passionate about supporting local suppliers, and the head chef carefully selects produce including cheese, bread and groceries from independent businesses within a 20-mile radius.
The farm shop’s butchery counter features farm-fresh meat and the friendly team of butchers is on-hand to offer advice. The pork, lamb and a third of the beef comes from Puxton’s own farms. Puxton Park is home to a herd of Jersey cows, whose milk is famous for its creamy texture. From this, the Meadows team makes Jersey Girls ice cream, which is sold exclusively at Meadows and Puxton Park. The park is also home to multi-award-winning cheesemakers, Gorwydd Caerphilly.
Open seven days a week, Meadows serves home-style hot and cold food. Breakfasts like the Farmer’s Challenge, which includes award-winning sausages made by the on-site butchers, bacon reared on Puxton’s farms, and local eggs, are served from 9am to 11.30am. Lunch runs from 11.30am until 5pm, with a menu that boasts tasty options likes pies made at the farm shop’s deli counter, classic beefburgers made on-site, and top-quality ham, egg and chips. Freshly made seasonal soups and vegetarian options feature on the daily specials board, alongside lighter options such as salads and sandwiches. The ever-popular Sunday carvery offers three joints of succulent, roasted meat. Children can choose a hot meal of their own, or select items for a pick and mix packed lunch box for just £3.95. There is also a Tractor Ted play area within the restaurant for your little ones to play in, while you relax with a coffee.
Meadows serves coffee, tea and cakes throughout the day. In the colder months, a cosy log fire will keep you warm, while the sun terrace opens during the summer to offer an al fresco dining experience. With large coffee tables and comfy bucket chairs, the café area has ample space for families and friends to meet and relax. Entry to Meadows Tea Rooms & Restaurant is free, but access to Puxton Park is by gate fare only. No bookings are taken, but please call for enquiries.
