Symonds at Redwood
Modern European

You’ll find Symonds at Redwood within the gorgeous Redwood Hall at Audley. Located just a short drive from the centre of Clifton and surrounded by 14 acres of landscaped gardens, the restaurant offers the perfect escape from reality and provides a tranquil place to unwind with friends and family.
Over the years, Symonds has developed an excellent reputation for its sophisticated yet laid-back ambience and creative seasonal menus, and visitors are offered the choice of a formal restaurant or a more relaxed modern British bistro as their dining destination.
Inside, the decor is a tasteful fusion of contemporary touches and traditional English charm: bottle green chairs, crystal chandeliers and polished wooden tables combine to form an interior that is both elegant and inviting. The stylish atmosphere calls for food to match, and the restaurant menu holds its own with modern interpretations of classic English dishes.
To start, seared cod cheeks are paired with a trio of peas and a flavoursome pancetta crisp, while the Wye Valley asparagus comes with a poached hen’s egg, Béarnaise sauce and a drizzle of luxurious truffle oil. Local ingredients and European influences can be spotted in main dishes of pan-fried fillet of stone bass, which is enhanced by pickled samphire and shellfish bisque, and the impressive duo of lamb is accompanied by fondant potato, baby carrots and leeks, chestnut mushrooms and mint gel. There are a few vegetarian and gluten-free options too, including asparagus, basil and pea risotto. From the all-day dining menu, guests can opt for light bites and sandwiches – the chicken and tarragon mayonnaise option is especially popular – as well as classics such as chicken Caesar salad and juicy sirloin steak with chunky chips and onion rings.
On warm summer days, the garden and terrace are sublime spots in which to unwind with a chilled glass of wine or even a cocktail. If you’re celebrating a special occasion, or just enjoying the weekend, you could even order afternoon tea to share. The themed teas change regularly, but there’s always a tempting array of delicate finger sandwiches and homemade cakes on offer.
