The Dolphin Inn
Pubs and Bars with Restaurants
Experienced landlady Sharon Voaden took over in January 2009 and immediately set about turning a run-down business into a place where both locals and passers-by are warmly welcomed. She is taking the inn from strength to strength, and an exciting refurbishment programme to provide better facilities and restore some of the building's original character is in the pipeline, to put the finishing touches to the success the pub has already enjoyed. A south-facing covered seating area outside is a delightful place to enjoy a drink or a meal, and a children's play area and car-parking facilities ensure a stress-free visit.
Where Sharon, an experienced foodie, has already impressed is with the all-important food and drink. Visitors to The Dolphin enjoy excellent value for money, tucking into delicious and generous dishes from a select menu. On our visit, the seasonal addition of a few extra light summery meals enhanced the choice, and throughout the year the separate dessert menu is a real treat to the eyes and the sweet tooth. Traditional roasts are available on Sundays, and diners are assured that Sharon is renowned for her Yorkshire puddings.
The well-stocked bar carries a range of real ales, including Lemony Cricket and Tanglefoot from the Hall & Woodhouse family brewery. A selection of more usual beers and lagers, as well as a generous selection of wines, means that any evening spent here will be a relaxed and enjoyable one.
