The Botany Bay Inne
The Botany Bay Inne is a friendly, well-loved local pub and trusted stop off for those travelling through Dorset. There’s a real warmth and community feel to this attractive venue, with the manager and his team taking real pride in what they have created – and justifiably so.
After being promptly shown to our seats by our smiling and helpful waitress, we sipped chilled glasses of pinot grigio and perused the varied menu. We were delighted to find an excellent-value offering to suit every taste. I opted to start with a mature cheese souffle – a starter so light and fluffy that it melted on the tongue. My partner was equally impressed with his starter, The Botany Bay’s take on the classic prawn cocktail. We followed with a superb chargrilled pork chop that was perfectly cooked and served with bubble and squeak and a delicious apple chutney jus, and a hearty helping of vegetable moussaka. Despite polishing off our generous portions, we were unable to pass up on delectable New York cheesecake and homemade sticky toffee pudding.
With steak night every Thursday, pie night on Fridays and an outstanding Sunday carvery, there’s always a reason to visit. In the summer, head to the charming garden where you’ll find the Grill Shack, offering a well-stocked salad bar complete with kebab skewers, steak, chops and whole fish – what could be better?
