The Red Barn
Pubs and Bars with Restaurants
Proud gatekeeper to one of Britain’s best beaches, The Red Barn offers high-quality, locally sourced food, customer-focused service and panoramic views over the Atlantic coastline. A local institution that has been serving beachgoers for over 50 years, the family-run Red Barn has retained a laid-back beachside vibe while catering to the tastebuds of today’s customers.
The mantra of ‘beer, food, surf, music’ is clear throughout, with a range of beer on offer, including their own Red Barn craft ale. An extensive menu is available throughout the day, classic surfboards adorn the high, beamed ceiling and live bands play on Friday nights.
The Hawaiian Burger, topped with tangy pineapple, is a popular choice, as are Aunt Kelly’s Devon cream tea, the full English breakfast and traditional fi sh and chips. The menu also offers lighter meals such as soup and salad alongside a range of vegetarian and gluten-free options. For more sophisticated dishes, look no further than the specials board, from which we picked tender lamb rump with rich red wine sauce and delicate stone bass fillet complemented by lemon and caper butter. We finished off with homemade pistachio and rose cake, with lashings of local clotted cream, and sat back, glass in hand, to soak up the sunset over Woolacombe Bay.
