The London Inn
Pubs and Bars with Restaurants
Everything about The London Inn is pleasingly traditional, offering a slice of country life in the heart of picturesque Exmoor. This lovely establishment exudes olde-worlde charm and is a firm community favourite, providing a friendly place for both locals and visitors to relax. Indeed, although not regulars at the inn, we received the warmest of welcomes when we arrived and felt right at home in no time.
We perused the menu and specials selection while sipping a splendid pint of Exmoor bitter, and chose delectable starters of scallop salad and Cullen Skink. Both dishes were plentiful and cooked to perfection. The specials menu boasted interesting options such as butterflied steak filled with salmon, and the selection changes regularly depending on the produce available. I had pan-fried John Dory while my partner went for venison steak, both of which came with perfectly al dente vegetables. Although tempted, we unfortunately couldn’t manage dessert – next time we’ll be sure to leave room for one of the inn’s
exquisite sweet treats.
The wine list features a host of Old and New World varieties, most of which are available by the glass, giving you plenty of scope for sampling new tipples. With its comfortable ambience and great food, The London Inn is the ideal spot for a refreshing drink or leisurely meal. It also makes the perfect place to stop off after a day spent enjoying country pursuits.
