Pubs and Bars with Restaurants
If you’ve been enjoying an evening walk along Instow beach, you can’t do better than to visit the Instow Arms. Panoramic river views from the restaurant and bar are sure to please. Bask in the sunshine in the decked seating area, sheltered beer garden or on the large patio, which boasts stunning views of the beach. The Instow Arms also provides blankets as well as boasting various heat lamps to keep you warm on cooler evenings. Situated just off the Tarka Trail cycle path, this popular venue boasts handy bike racks and is a favourite with active families and couples. In the downstairs bar, pups are welcomed with drinking bowls and dog biscuits.
The Instow Arms is Cask-Marque accredited, so we’d recommend ordering a pint of local ale, though there are excellent alcohol-free drinks. The menu boasts an array of breakfast dishes, pub classics, light bites, burgers, salads and decadent desserts. When dining with friends, you must try one of the sharing platters; the lobster and seafood platter, and Tomahawk steak platter – complete with onion rings, roasted cherry vine tomatoes, coleslaw, roasted baby potatoes, asparagus, and a choice of blue cheese or peppercorn sauce – are absolutely phenomenal. Also on offer are a delicious selection of vegetarian and vegan dishes including halloumi fries, goat’s cheese and caramelised red onion tart, loaded nachos, and more. Ingredients are fresh and sourced locally wherever possible. Local bands and singers often perform at the restaurant and are advertised on the Instow Arms’ Facebook page.
