Royal Bengal

This authentic Indian restaurant is located in pretty Braunton, reputedly the largest village in England. Royal Bengal is an ideal venue for leisurely lunches and evenings spent relaxing with friends and family. After a friendly and attentive welcome, we began with traditional poppadoms, chutneys and pickles - a great start. When it came to the main course we were simply spoilt for choice and so selected from the house specialities created by Shamim, the owner. The amere murgh, a delightful chicken dish with mango, spices, cream and almonds, was as impressive as the Chittagong-style king prawns, featuring tiger prawns cooked in their shells and muddled with an amazing blend of spices. Accompaniments of mushroom rice, pilau rice, sag aloo and naan bread were all clearly cooked by a skilled hand. An extensive wine and drinks menu guarantees something perfect to complement.
