The Black Dog Inn

Situated in idyllic rural surroundings, The Black Dog Inn is an 18th-Century inn with commanding views across Dartmoor to the south and Exmoor to the north. The interior is brimming with crooked character and rustic charm, with low ceilings and exposed beams giving it a homely feel. Dave, Alli and their family have been offering a warm welcome to regulars and visitors alike since 2007. The menu is crammed with home-cooked traditional dishes; hearty, honest and generously portioned, as good pub food should be. Only the best quality produce is used, and the carvery (served on Sunday lunchtimes) includes pork reared by Dave and Alli themselves. A homemade dessert is the perfect way to finish - I devoured my lemon syllabub and couldn't resist stealing a forkful of my partner's sticky lemon drizzle cake. A perfect country-pub treat.
