The Mendip Inn
Pubs and Bars with Restaurants
Stylish yet unpretentious, The Mendip Inn is the perfect country dining pub for both special occasions and casual dining.
Brothers Nick and John Rossi have tastefully decorated this historic inn to showcase wooden beams, log burners and exposed brickwork alongside chic chairs and lampshades. The menu is just as beautiful, with inventive dishes true to their ingredients that celebrate the best of modern British cuisine. A three-course meal is highly recommended, so cast your eyes over the menu to find the likes of homemade Scotch egg encased in minced pork and breadcrumbs, with beetroot purée and crispy pancetta. Move on to slow-braised brisket of beef in rich red wine sauce with pancetta lardons, mushrooms, creamy mash and vegetables, before devouring dessert – don’t miss Baileys orange cheesecake with blood orange sorbet. Vegetarians will be pleased to see dishes such as falafel and courgette fritter on the menu.
Secure a table for Sunday lunch and you won’t be disappointed. Throw into the mix a bottle of wine from the refined list, or a pint of local ale, and you’ll agree The Mendip Inn is worth seeking out.
You can hire the private room for any occasion, although you might want to hurry, as word is quickly spreading about just how good this gem of a find is.
