The Natterjack Inn
Situated just outside the village of Evercreech, surrounded by the stunning Mendip Hills, you’ll find The Natterjack Inn. Expect to be greeted by a warm welcome and a smile at this charming traditional pub. Whether you’re looking to snuggle up by the fire for a catch-up or prefer mingling with locals at the bar, The Natterjack is sure to impress.
We settled into a cosy corner near the bar and sipped crisp glasses of wine selected from the impressive range available. The food menu is packed with well-loved classic dishes such as cod and chips, pies and West Country steaks, and a specials board offers a range of inspired choices. Everything is homemade with care using fresh produce that’s locally sourced wherever possible.
I couldn’t resist starting with the classic prawn cocktail served with buttered brown bread and colourful leaves, while my partner opted for luxuriously creamy garlic mushrooms atop toasted brioche. Both dishes were elegantly presented and left us eagerly anticipating our mains. My vegetable lasagne layered with flavoursome ragu and creamy Béchamel sauce proved to be a vegetarian delight, and my partner enthused over his warming beef chilli. As we pondered the tempting dessert menu we were seduced by the tantalising choices. My heavenly vanilla crème brûlée was a smooth, velvety treat adorned with tangy physalis, while my partner’s chocolate fudge cake with local ice cream was delightfully indulgent.
The Natterjack Inn is the perfect place for a countryside escape, thanks to a number of modern rooms and family cottages to choose from. Engulfed by breath-taking scenery and just a stone’s throw from the Bath & West Showground, Castle Cary, Street, and the historic city of Wells, you’re sure to find plenty to keep you entertained.
