The Canards Hotel
As any authentic Somerset pub should, The Canards' bar hosts a healthy range of real ales and local ciders, some of which boast a hefty strength of seven per cent, making them well worth a try for cider connoisseurs. These quality tipples complement the food perfectly. True to the heritage of the area, the team source all fresh meat and fish with pride, looking to provide customers with reasonably priced fare that's as fresh and flavoursome as possible. It is no wonder then that we were so enticed by the chef's locally sourced Priddy steaks. With anticipation and hungry bellies we ordered one each. When my rib-eye steak was served, with chips and fresh salad, its organic origins were evident - the meat simply melted in the mouth. Polishing off every last bite, I was ready for dessert. The chocolate cake I chose was sumptuous; dripping with a gorgeous chocolatey sauce and a generous scoop of ice cream, it was a delicious end to the meal.
With a simple menu of fine, fresh cuisine, accompanied by a range of drinks, The Canards is a place that, once tried, you will return to time and time again.
