Nestled on the banks of the picturesque Helford River, The Shipwrights Arms is a hidden gem with a glorious view, just waiting to be discovered. Cornish palm trees, waterside vistas and outside seating make this an idyllic spot for al fresco dining. Landlords Laura and Roger provide friendly, welcoming service and pride themselves on facilitating the perfect atmosphere.
Wholesome, tasty food is what The Shipwrights Arms is best known for. Daily changing menus feature the likes of fish and chips, moules frites, and juicy steaks. Local fishermen use the pub’s slipway, so menus often showcase the likes of Kynance crab, lobster, monkfish and mackerel straight from the boat. Local pasties and Roskilly ice cream are firm favourites. If you arrive by boat, you’ll be greeted by the enticing smell of authentic Italian-style pizza as soon as you set foot on the pontoon. In the autumn and winter a succulent Sunday roast is available, with vegetarian and gluten-free options.
An abundance of drinks is available behind the well-stocked bar. There are at least two local cask ales on offer at any given time. An array of beer, local cider, spirits – including over 20 different rums – and an attractively priced wine selection ensure that there’s a tipple to suit all tastes.
